The Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization Internship Programme is designed to promote academic engagement and capacity building among students and young professionals from Afro-Asian countries. It offers valuable exposure to the functioning of an intergovernmental organization committed to the progressive development and codification of international law from a distinct Afro-Asian perspective.
AALCO interns who are law and international relations students are drawn from diverse specializations, including public international law, international humanitarian law, trade law, investment law and emerging fields such as cyberspace and artificial intelligence. During the programme, they contribute to research, preparation of background notes, and documentation related to AALCO’s ongoing initiatives, including its annual sessions and other inter-sessional processes.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the opportunity for interns to interact with different wings and branches of the Secretariat, enabling a broader understanding of the Organization’s work and internal functioning.
With its emphasis on Afro-Asian perspectives, the programme encourages engagement with contemporary international legal challenges affecting Afro-Asian countries. It thus serves as a platform for empowering future generation in the Afro-Asian region while strengthening AALCO’s intellectual contributions to international law.
