We are deeply saddened to inform the demise of H.E. Amb. Dr. Augustine Philip Mahiga, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania and the current President of AALCO since the 58th Annual Session of AALCO held in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania in October 2019.
He passed away on 1st May 2020 in Dodoma, United Republic of Tanzania.
The Secretariat wishes to convey its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to his family, the Government and the people of Tanzania through this period of shock and grief. During his tenure as the president of AALCO, he constructively guided the Secretariat in accomplishing its entrusted mandate.
His demise will be deeply felt by AALCO family and international community especially people who worked with him. He will be remembered as a legendary and accomplished diplomat, seasoned politician and an illustrious son of Tanzania and Afro-Asian region.
