Inaugural AALCO International Arbitration Masterclass Programme, AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC), Hong Kong SAR, People’s Republic of China, 2 July 2025

The inaugural edition of AALCO’s International Arbitration Masterclass Programme, organized by the AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre (AALCO-HKRAC), was held on 2 July 2025 in the Hong Kong SAR, People’s Republic of China.

H.E. Dr. Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol, Secretary-General of AALCO delivered the opening remarks at the event.  The Secretary-General emphasized that the Programme marks a strategic investment in the future of dispute resolution across Asia and Africa, aiming to equip arbitrators with practical tools, foster cross-border cooperation, and promote efficiency, justice, and regional integration. Topics such as interim measures, online dispute resolution, enforcement of arbitral awards, and the application of AI in arbitration were highlighted as essential areas for capacity-building in today’s globalized legal landscape.

The Secretary-General praised Hong Kong SAR’s emerging role as a hub for international dispute settlement, noting its status as host of the newly established International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) and the home of the AALCO-HKRAC - AALCO’s newest Regional Arbitration Centre. Since its founding in 2022, the Centre has offered arbitration, mediation, conciliation, and hybrid solutions through innovative and accessible platforms.

Concluding his remarks, The Secretary-General called for collective responsibility in building a fair, inclusive, and regionally grounded arbitration culture in the Global South. He encouraged participants to actively engage in the Programme, share experiences, and build lasting professional networks. He also extended his sincere appreciation to Mr. Nick Chan, Director of AALCO-HKRAC, and his team for their leadership and hospitality in hosting this landmark programme.
