Demise of Mr. Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General of the United Nations
The Secretariat of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) expresses its deepest grief on the sad and untimely demise of Nobel Laureate, former Secretary- General Mr. Kofi Annan on 18 August, 2018, and the first sub-Saharan African who headed the United Nations for a decade from 1997 to 2006.
Mr. Annan, from the Republic of Ghana was an outstanding statesman who enriched global diplomacy through his unparalled vision and foresight. His exemplary contribution to world peace, global harmony and a sustainable world order will forever be a shining illustration for future generations. The world has lost one of its leading citizens who lead by example and was widely remembered as a figure of grace, humility and gentleness, qualities that endeared him to one and all.
AALCO joins the international community in mourning the departure of this great son of Africa whose demise has left a void that is irreplaceable. AALCO stands with Ghana one of its Member States in this hour of sorrow.
